Old Family Photos for Art Projects

My family photos!

I’m seeing so many art projects lately featuring Tim Holtz Paper Dolls as a focal point, and I really like the way they look in a vintage project.

Tim Holtz Paper Dolls available for purchase.

It got me thinking about the old photographs from my own family, and how they’re just stored in a manila envelope, forgotten for the most part. Why not use some of them in my own projects?

I don’t want to cut up the originals, so I made copies onto card stock so I can use them freely. I admit that I don’t have the wide array you find in the packaged version, but they’re much more meaningful to me and the family members I make the projects for.

Copies in the middle, original photos around the edges.

Those are my parents in the middle of the photo above (the couple in the woods and in front of the brick building) so I’ll definitely be including those in the next prayer journal I create for my mom.

Do you use family photos in your art projects? Please share your ideas in the comments!

Blessings!
