Creating Digital Designs for Junk Journals for The 100 Day Project

001 Brown Butterfly Postage Stamp

Hello and welcome! Have you heard that #the100DayProject has begun? I’ve been thinking for several weeks about what my focus would be for this year’s 100 Day “celebration of creation” and I finally decided to dive deeper into creating digital journaling pages and ephemera. I’ve always had a love for working on the computer, whether it be photo editing, blogging, publishing newsletters, creating fliers and posters, etc. and this feels like a way to extend the boundaries of what I can do digitally.

New handmade journal in the works!

Now that I’ve developed a passion for creating handmade journals, I feel like I never have enough paper or enough embellishment items! That is NOT TRUE since I could make a journal every day for the next year and probably not run out of the supplies I already own, but I’ve just become addicted to paper. By creating and printing some of my own designs, I hope to feed that addiction in a productive and satisfying way!

Butterfly and Daisy Journal Cover

My first digital creation is the image you see above. I designed it to either be folded in half and used as a journal cover (which is what I’ve done), or cut apart to make tags or journaling cards. I enjoyed making this item so much, I decided to keep going and make a few more things to use in my new journal. And now a few things has turned into 100 things, if I stick to the plan!

My first official “thing” for the 100 Day Project is this digital postage stamp featuring a brown(ish) butterfly that I will use in my new journal. The 100 Day Project website can give you all the details (it’s not too late to join in!) and you can follow the hashtag #the100dayproject on your social media platform of choice to see what everyone else is working on.

I’m tagging all my project designs on Instagram with #happyheARTdigitaldesigns if you want to follow my journey. I’ll also be posting updates here periodically as well, so please enter your email address or click the “Follow” button in the right-hand column to subscribe to the blog if you want to watch my progress.

If you are participating in the 100 Day Project, I hope you’ll leave a comment telling me what you’re working on and where I can follow you so that I can cheer you on!

p.s. If you’d like to see a flip-through of the pages I’m using in my new Butterflies and Daisies journal, hop over to my YouTube channel!

Blessings,
