Collage Vintage Ephemera Stickers for Junk Journaling

There’s nothing I like better than settling in with a box of scrap paper and fussy cutouts and doing some collaging! I enjoy all sorts of art projects, but I’m happiest when I have paper, glue, and scissors in my hands.

We’ve all had those days at the thrift store when we see some sort of paper goods that we just can’t pass up, even if we don’t know quite what we’ll do with them. That was the feeling I had when I saw this box of bookplate stickers about a year ago at my local Goodwill. A whole box of stickers for two bucks? I couldn’t pass it up!

I finally decided that one way to use the bookplates was to collage on top of them to create ephemera stickers that I could use later on tags, pockets, or junk journal pages. As you can see from the above photo, the stickers have a glossy finish, but the Elmer’s glue stick worked just fine.

I had some leftovers still out on my workspace from my last project, including some butterflies and labels that I had printed out, fussy cut, and inked; a collection of cards and tags that I had printed and cut out; and a few botanical images I had torn and inked. I also grabbed a sheet of coffee-dyed paper to add a neutral background element to the collages.

Once I glued all the papers and other elements on, I trimmed most them to the size of the sticker, rounded the corners, and inked around the edges. (Some I left untrimmed until I see what size I might need later, or in case I want to use torn edges instead of cut edges.) I’ll finish them off with writing, stamping, or additional embellishments as I use them in future projects.

So that was today’s junk journal project! If you’d like to see a short video of me creating one of these collage stickers, hop over to my YouTube channel to watch.
