House Collage Prayer Card

Do you have a favorite type of art to make?  I know, that’s a little like trying to choose a favorite child, but I’ve always been drawn to collage.  (No pun intended!)  And my favorite type of collage to make is rows of houses.  Perhaps that’s because they remind me of the colorful Rainbow Row houses in Charleston, SC, which is where I spent my honeymoon.

Whatever the reason, I love looking at other people’s house collages (I have a Pinterest board dedicated to just that topic) and I love creating them myself.

Houses Prayer Card

This is one that I created as part of a series of prayer cards for my sister-in-law using a study index divider card, scrap patterned paper and card stock, various small stamps, and washi tape.  I love the colors in this piece, although I feel like it needs a little something else between the bright blue house and the yellow house.

I’m trying to become more heavy-handed with the black in my art to give it more dimension.  For some reason I have a lot of anxiety about adding thick black outlines to my cut-out papers!  I’ve been told a black Stabilo pencil is the perfect tool for outlining.  Do you agree?  Let me know in the comments.

Blessings,
